Who was Jesus

Some people claim he's a great teacher. Others think he's a prophet. Some reckon he's a liar or even a madman. Some claim he's the Son of God.

Whatever people think of him, nobody can ignore him!

The Bible says that Jesus was born about 2000 years ago. His mum was a young virgin. He had a group of followers (called disciples) and went around teaching and performing miracles for about three years. Through his life he never did anything wrong.

He said he was the son of God, and had the power to forgive people, cast out demons and choose whether people would go to heaven. Eventually he was killed on a cross but then rose back to life three days later. Over 500 people saw him after he had come back to life.

He made such a big difference to the world that even our calendar starts when he was born. Today, billions of people around the world follow him.

Jesus died on the cross as punishment for all the wrong things we have done. Every time we do something wrong it seperates us from God. But because Jesus has already been punished instead of us, we can know God. All we have to do is ask him to forgive us and promise to live our lives for him.

We only have two choices; we can accept Jesus and follow him, or we can reject him and ignore him. If we choose to follow him, he will be our friend and will always be with us and help us. After we die we will go to heaven to be with him for ever.
