About the country

Holland, also called the Netherlands, was formed in 1815. During the second world war it was invaded by Germany. Today there are lots of refugees from all across the world in the country. A third of Holland is beneath sea level.
Holland has a reputation for 'anything goes'. Lots of drugs are legal in the country, and many drugs are produced there. There are lots of prostitutes working there.

Things to pray for

That the refugees in Holland would fit in easily, and there would be no problems between them.

That all those addicted to drugs would be able to escape from them, and that drugs would stop coming to other countries from Holland.

That the people working as prostitutes would find true love in Jesus.

Lots of lively churches are growing in Holland. Pray that they carry on growing and affect the whole country.

In the past lots of missionaries have come from Holland. Pray for even more in the future.

About the country

Hungary was formed in 1918, then after the second world war became a communist country controlled by Russia. In 1956 they tried to leave but a big Russian invasion stopped them - they eventually managed in the 1990s.

Things to pray for

Lots of heroin passes through Hungary. Pray that drugs would be stopped from going through the country.

About the country

Iceland is one of the oldest countries in the world. At times it has been controlled by Norway and Denmark. In 1875 a massive volcano erupted, and caused a famine, so lots of people left.
Today it is quite a rich country, and most people have jobs. The main business is fishing, and they are quite worried about the number of fish in the sea dropping.

Things to pray for

That the Iceland fishermen would not suffer if the number of fish reduce.

About the country

All of Ireland used to be part of Britain. In 1921 the south of Ireland became a seperate country, but Northern Ireland stayed as part of Britain. Some want Northern Ireland to leave Britain as well, and there have been terrorist groups trying to force this.

Things to pray for

That there would be peace and no more terrorism, and any discussion about Northern Ireland would not cause violence.

About the country

Italy became a country in 1861.
The north of the country is quite well off, but the south is poor. Almost one person in five in the south are unemployed. The country has had problems with lots of illegal refugees. It also has problems with crime gangs and corruption.
The headquarters of the Catholic church, the Vatican City, is a separate country in the middle of Italy.

Things to pray for

That the unemployed people would be able to find jobs.

That the crime gangs would find out about Jesus and stop breaking the law.

Italy to look after the legal refugees well, and not to stop legal refugees because of the illegal ones.

That the corrupt people would change their ways.

Thank God for the work of the Catholic church all round the world.
