About the continent

Africa is a huge continent, containing many countries. Lots of the continent is very poor. There have been many problems in the continent:
Some of the countries have had famines and many of the people have starved to death.
There have been wars in some countries which have killed lots of people. Some of the wars have gone on over many years.
Some countries are run by dictators who steal the countries money for themselves, or prevent people doing what they want.
AIDS is a huge problem in many countries. Many children are orphans because their parents died of AIDS. In some places almost a third of the people have AIDS.
Things to pray for

Pray that countries would be able to produce enough food to feed everyone.

Pray for an end to the wars and fighting in all the countries.

Pray that AIDS would stop spreading through the continent.

Pray that all the orphans would be looked after and loved, and also pray that the people working with orphans would be able to do as much as they can.

Pray that the leaders would do their best to help the people in their countries.

Thank God that many people in Africa have become Christians. Pray that even more would start to follow Jesus.

About the area

The middle east is best known to us because it contains Israel, the country where Jesus spent most of his life. Israel is a Jewish country but most of the countries round it are Muslim. This has led to a lot of fighting over the years.
The middle east also contains countries like Iraq, Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Some of these countries won't let people follow Jesus
Things to pray for

Pray for peace between Israel and the other countries in the area.

Pray for people in Saudi Arabia. It is illegal to follow Jesus and people who do can be killed. Pray that the country will change so people will be able to follow him. Also thank God that some people are Christians there, and pray that they will be kept safe.

Egypt has had churches longer than almost any other country, although they have had hard times and been persecuted. Thank God for the churches in Egypt.

In Turkey there were only 10 Christians in 1960. In the year 2000 there were 2,000 of them. Thank God for this and pray that even more people would become Christians.

Iran and Iraq are hard countries for Christians to live in. They are not allowed to tell other people about Jesus. Pray that God would help all the Christians there.

About the country

Japan is one of the worlds richest countries and invents lots of electronic products. Recently though more and more people have lost their jobs. As well as this there was a big earthquake recently which destroyed a lot of buildings.
Most of the people are Shintoists, which is a Japanese religion. People worship idols, ancient spirits and even their dead relatives. Only 1 person in 50 follows Jesus

Things to pray for

Pray that more people would start to follow Jesus.

Even though not many people are Christians, lots of couples want to get married in a church. Pray that they would find out that churches are really for worshipping God and not just for weeddings.

Pray that people who lost homes because of the earthquake would find new places to live.

About the country

China is huge - one fifth of the people in the world lives in the country. It is a communist country, which means the people there only have a bit of freedom. The rulers of the country do not want people to speak out against them.
It can be hard for people living in the country. Some don't have enough to eat. Sometimes the rulers have stopped people having more than one baby, and parents have killed or abandoned baby girls.
China allows an official church, but they are not allowed to tell children or young people about God. Even though people can be arrested for joining them there are lots of unofficial churches.
Things to pray for

Pray that everyone in china would have enough to eat and somewhere to live.

Pray for abandoned children, that they would be safe and well.

Pray that the Christians in unofficial churches would not get arrested.

Pray that there would be enough people to lead the churches. Also pray that people would be able to teach children about God.

About the country

India is a massive country. It is the home of the Hindu religion and most of the Hindus in the world live there. It is quite a poor country, with many homeless people and people who don't have enough food, but it is getting a bit better. Lots of people work in very badly paid jobs.
People are allowed to be Christians but often suffer if they are. Even so, the number of Christians are still growing.
India and Pakistan don't get along, and there have been wars between the two. They often argue over some land between the two countries.

Things to pray for

Thank God that even though Christians suffer, people are still becoming Christians.

Pray that God will help people tell others about Jesus in India.

Pray for the hungry and the homeless. Ask that they will be able to survive, and people will go to help them.

Pray that India and Pakistan would get along better and they would sort out their problems peacefully.

About the country

Russia is nearly twice as big as any other country. It used to be a communist country but about ten years ago changed. Some parts of the country broke away into seperate countries. There are still some parts that want to break away.
When Russia was a communist country all the banks and businesses were run by the government. Some criminal groups or rich people took over them, and lots of normal people are now much worse off. Crime is a problem.

Things to pray for

Pray that which parts of Russia break away is sorted out without wars or violence.

Pray that the criminal groups would be prevented from running businesses and arrested.

Pray that everyone would get better off.

Thank God that people can now worship him. They weren't allowed to when Russia was a communist country.
